The Adamic Covenant Part 2 of 8
Genesis 3:14-19
(V14) "And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shall thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life."
(V14) Here the Lord is not talking to a non-poisonous snake (the kind we see in our yards and gardens) But Satan the very devil himself. As we have learned over the many years since this incident in this beautiful garden home that this serpent was full of deadly poison. The first couple that would have lived forever began to die the very instant they believed the one whom Jesus called a liar from the beginning and the truth was not in him. (John 8:44)
(V15) "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
(V15) God put animosity between the devil and the seed of the woman and this enmity still exists today. The serpent would bruise the heel of the woman's seed and the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent's seed. All of this came to pass at Calvary when Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead. The war still goes on today between the two seeds in the form of Christians and non-Christians.
(V16) "Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."
(V16) Here God spoke directly to the sinning woman and told her that He would greatly multiply her afflictions and that she would bear her children in sorrow.
(V17) "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;"
(V17) Now God turns His attention to the man, Adam, and told him that because he had listened to his wife and partook of the forbidden tree that the ground is now cursed. And for the rest of his life, Adam would eat of the cursed ground in sorrow.
(V18) "Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;"
(V18) Then God further explained to him that thorns and thistles would come forth from the troublesome earth.
(V19) "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
(V19) Every time we see sweat dripping from a workman's sunburned face or a sweat soaked handkerchief dangling from his hip pocket we are reminded that this verse of scripture is still in effect today and will remain in effect until the man returns to the dust from which he came. Because man was made out of dust, when he dies he will return to dust.
Dear Reader: Since it's a fact that all living must die and one day you will receive your call, I ask you this question: ARE YOU READY TO GO??? If not, call on Jesus right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and confess that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, then denounce your sins, turn away from your sins, and begin to walk to the land of eternal bliss with Jesus Christ, our precious Lord and Savior.
It is our prayer for you that you will one day live forever in heaven as the eternal ages roll. ARE YOU RAPTURE READY????
